Jacqueline A. Kelly
Jacqueline (Jacqui) Asher Kelly is a co-founder and managing partner of AsherKelly, with almost three decades of experience in pensions, health and welfare benefits, labor and employment law.
Jacqui concentrates her individual practice on multiemployer fringe benefit fund representation, with an emphasis on ERISA and IRC compliance, plan documentation and trustee counseling. Her focus also encompasses issues of fiduciary responsibility, benefit claims, prohibited transactions, agreements with third party vendors, withdrawal liability, and merger issues. She heads the Compliance Department at the firm, and prides herself on accessibility to clients and administrators.
From 2019 – 2024, Jacqui has been selected as one of Michigan’s Leading Lawyers.—a distinction bestowed by her peers. In 2014, she was named one of Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s Women in Law—a program dedicated to recognizing high-achieving female lawyers in the state.
A highly respected attorney, Jacqui has published articles in the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Journal, the Defense Law Journal, and the University of Detroit Law Review. She has lectured on the Pension Protection Act, as well as employment discrimination and benefits, and has been a speaker at the Annual Enrolled Actuaries Annual Meeting and the International Foundation.
Jacqui is a former Visiting Associate Professor of Law at the Detroit College of Law and former Legal Research and Writing Instructor at the University of Detroit School of Law. She has also served her local community as a Member of Council and on the Zoning Board of Appeals.
